Networking is often seen as a critical skill for career success, but finding the time and confidence to make it happen is not always easy.
Join the Burnaby Board of Trade's Burnaby Young Professionals Network for their first workshop in a series of targeted events aimed at supporting emerging leaders. The workshop, "Building Relationships Instead of Collecting Cards" is designed to help transform the networking experience from a stressful necessity to an activity that you can actually enjoy.
This workshop will provide a combination of practical models, thought-provoking exercises, and advice from personal experience to help you learn how to:
- Develop your own personal strategy to networking
- Enter a room and approach both individuals and small groups with confidence
- Demonstrate sincere curiosity and use active listening to develop meaningful connections
- Use networking as a life skill, not just a job search tactic
- Differentiate between networking styles in various situations
- Convey your goals and needs when networking with authenticity
