"Indigenous 101" Session - Presented in partnership with BCIT Indigenous Initiatives
Date and Time
Thursday Sep 9, 2021
1:00 PM - 4:00 PM PDT
Description
The Burnaby Board of Trade is pleased to be providing this platform for our members to increase their understanding of this important topic, and to foster engagement and reciprocity among Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
At this open and honest session, participants learn about terminology, the true history of Canada, the Indian Act, contemporary reality, and the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action. This session will provide a solid underpinning of understanding for any business owner, manager or professional in our community, regardless of your existing level of knowledge on this topic.
This event is provided in partnership with BCIT, demonstrating BCIT’s commitment in meeting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, respect for the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and ensuring our community is informed and provided with opportunities to meet and discuss Indigenous issues and paths forward.
